17 September 2012

Whats up Family. This week was pretty good. We had two of our Gators come to church with us this week which was awesome. So yesterday after dinner one of our appointments fell through so me and my comp decided to go down to keaukahah to see some people. we went this guy Kaleio's to see when you could come work in his yard. we were there for a bit and this his daughter Hoku's friend came over and we al just talked for a while. There was a local kid who killed himself earlier this week which is really sad. he was only 17 years old. But this girl. Her name's Johnny Girl is his best friend so she told us everything that happend. it was really sad but on the other hand i was really grateful for my knowledge of the plan of salvation  and to know what happens after death. When things calm down a bit were gonna teach her a little more about it. anyways where it happend was down at the beach where the built a way sick tree house. She said the feeling there was no good so me and my comp decided we would go down there to say a one prayer. i don't really know why but we just felt like we should. so we did and when where were walking you have to walk on the cement wall to get to the tree house so when we were walking Elder Davis almost fell in the ocean cause it was super Slick and then we heard a small splash and we looked at eachother and we just knew. The phone fell in the ocean. haha it sucked but we got it out. luckily it was way shallow so we just reached in and grabed it. but i thought about all the times i lost my phone in the water and i was like. im glad it was the ocean rather then the hot tub. if it ever happen at home im gonna wish it was the ocean. but yeah This week im super gratefull for the plan of salvation. i wish this girl and her family knew what i knew about it. but thats where we come in. hopefully we'll see some miracles with that. Well thats all for this week. im getting super attractive riding my bike in case you all wanted to know. you are all great i love you all. ALOHA!!!

10 September 2012

Ok so interviews were this week and it was good. Its always good to see President and Sister Dalton, but interviews with Sister Dalton were a little different his time.... kind of weird. so First she asked me how i wanted to be remembered in the misson by the ward members and other Elders. It was weird thinking about it cause i don't wanna start thinking abou coming home yet haha so that was weird and then she talked to me about thinking about School and where i wanna go and she talked to me about Registering.... i don't wanna go back to school yet either haha. Time flies by so fast. it blows my little mind. so yeah thats how interviews went. We had stake conference this week and it was really good. Pres. and Sister Dalton spoke. it was focused all about missionary work. He said something that i was like," holy cow this man is right". He called it the "Mormon Moment". We have Romney running for office and everyone in the world knows it and he just happens to be mormon so  when we talk to people a lot of time there gonna be like, who you voting for or what to you think about Romney or What does he belive you. BAM, let me just tell you what he believes as well as all the rest of us Later Day Saints. Its a perfect teaching oportunitiy yeah. And it doesnt just work for missionaries you kids can do it to. So next time some asks you about Mitt and his/our beliefes, open your mouth cause the lord his giving you the opportunity to share. I just thought i would share that with you guys cause i thought it was pretty cool. Fun fact about Hilo Hawaii. It rains in Hilo more then any other city in the U.S. Hilos great i love it here. you guys are great and i love you all. Aloha!!

Well family we had a good week. 1 baptized and 1 confrimed. cheee huuuuuuu. it was for a man named Uncle Frank. he's great. he got baptized on his 76th bithday. haha i was worried he's hip or is back was gonna break in the font but it was all good. it was a little cold though. we made him a cake for his birthday and he snarfed that down haha. so it was temple day today and I got to go to the Kona Temple. I have now been to both of the temples in Hawaiii. It is so so so small but no matter the size its always a good experience. i need to email pictures of the baptism and the temple but i left my camera at home so next week, plus there's a time limit on this computer and im outta time. One year down people, it blows my mind. This last year is gonna be amazing for sure. I love all of you thank you for being awesome. Aloha!!!

August Letters

06 August

So this week was a super spiritual awesome week for me this week. For sure something i will remember for the rest of my life. Ok so first there was a less family i started teaching which was about six months ago. so we've been working with them for awhile and that got active and they prepared to go to the temple so they can get sealed. well on Friday they got sealed and me and another elder got to go and share the experience with them. it was amazing to see the sealing and to be there when they got to take out their own endowments. We'll be next mom and dad haha. it was awesome. ANd then on sunday. those boys that got baptized with the group of five they all got the preisthood on sunday and they asked me if i could be the one to do it. It was cool. i was a bit scared but when i stared to give the blessing it was such ann amazing experience. Definetly something im gonna remember for the rest of my life. So we had a good week this week. Ok family i gotta go. We're doing another slp and slide for PDay today. but i love all of you you are great!!!!! Aloha!!!!!!!

13 August

Ok so today was pretty crazy and im really tired and my legs feel like jello haha. So me and two other elders decided to take a trip up to the another hike and do a hike with two of the elders up there. The hike is called. Stairway to Heaven and yes i did walk by booty cheeks pretty much to heaven. Im glad i did it though it was a one time thing. Its pretty sketchy if you aren't careful people die doing it all the time. Dont worry mom im still alive. But we stayed up all night because you have to get to the bottom of the stairs before the guard does. so we got there and started hiking at two in the AM. Yes that is correct 2am so i have been awake for the past 24 hours and then some. but The hike was great, the first part was way hard but after that it got a bit easier but it still was a butt kicker. I put some pictures of the stairs that we climbed it was pretty crazy. When we got to the top we were literally in a cloud and we couldn't see the sunrise which was kinda lame. but we went back down a ways and i got some pretty sick pictures. Hawaii is beautiful i love it. On Saturday were excited for our Four Awesome baptisms. One of them had to be pushed back she needs a little more time which is ok. we want her to be ready. I'll send pictures of that next week. Ok family, im gonna go sleep now but you are all great, i like you a lot.Love you and Aloha!!!! the las picture is of  part of the mountain from far away!

20 August

Everybody im here to tell you that there is a god and he loves me very much.... Im finally going off Island. Its Transfers on Wednesday and im getting shipped over to the Big Island on Hilo side. Im pretty stoked, its gonna be awesome. I will however miss this ward a ton. there are so many amazing people here who i've grown to love so much. They're like family.  This week was a good week though. We had our 4 baptisms and the other set of Elders in our ward had 5 of their own so 9 baptisms all together in one ward, isn't that crazy. The 4 that we baptized their names are Kelvin, Aron, Nora and NoNo. Kelvin and Aron got the Priesthood yesterday too so that was amazing and i got to baptized Kelvin and Aron and the other to had family baptize them. The work is amazing over here. Im so blessed to be able to serve in such an amazing place. Also because i started running every morning again i've started to lose weight so my clothes are getting big which is great. im looking like a younger more attractive version of Denzell Washington... haha. Ok thats alls i got to  report for this week. you all are great and i love you all. Be safe. Aloha!!!!

27 August

Whats up Family. Well I've made it over to the Big Island and its so sick. Its more like the Hawaii that i was expecting. No big buildings over here, not a bunch of cars everywhere, no traffic.... thats my favorite part. Everything here is way more relax. Everyones not hurrying around everywhere. And my ward is Awesome. Im in Keaukaha ward and its great. Everyone here is so nice. They treat you like there own son and everyone loves everyone. its awesome. My new companions name is Elder Davis, from Las Vegas. He's way cool. i really like him and its only been four days and i've learned so much. He finishs his mission in about a month so thats pretty crazy. Its crazy how fast time goes by. Guess what Else??!!! I hit my year mark this week. does that blow your mind. cause it blows mine. Its crazy how fast time goes by this last year is gonna go even faster. It'll be bitter sweet for sure. but everyday here just gives me one more reason to come back and visit.  Theres a bunch of people here who do like the whole like pig and sheep thing and its all delicious. the other day we helped a guy uncover his emu.... which is just pretty much a big pit in the ground that you cook pig in. it was cool and i want one in our backyard. and in a couple of week im gonna get to kill a pig and a sheep. its gonna be pretty knarly but im pretty stoked. like it with a knife to the neck and stuff but  we'll talk more about that when it happens. Ok i gotta go we're going to some caves for pday so it'll be pretty cool. i'll do pictures and send them next week aight.  I love you all stay safe, and play nice with the other kids. Aloha!!!

July Letters

02 July

Aloha Everyone! ok so this week was bittersweet. The bad was my comp elder Fa'amausili got sent home because  he had way bad diabetes and he wasn't taking care of himself. we all tried to help him and what not and president already warned him 3 times but i guess he just didn't care enough. he was a good elder though and i'll miss the kid. Haha so right  now I'm just kinda being passed around between the other elders until transfers in a couple weeks then i'll get a new companion. Earlier this week we went on a zone exchange. Every time we do zone exchange or zone always finds tons of miracles. That day we found i think 12 new gators. and lots of with dates. in my are me and Elder Ence found 6 new with dates! it was amazing. There Baptism dates are set for the 21st of july. So we're pretty excited for that. Keep them in your prayers. Its the 4th of July on Wednesday. i hear its pretty dry so they are being kinda strict about fire works. hopefully you all have fun though. I think we are going to a members house and having BBQ and watching fireworks. there backyard is the beach. ITs always a blast when we go over there. ALso we only work till 5 o clock! It should be fun though! well Thats all i got for you kids today. I hope everyone staying safe and Have a good Independence Day. Oh, Happy Birthday Madeline, miss you tons! OFa Atu and Aloha!!!!

09 July

ALOHA!

Its the last Pday before Transfers. this morning we woke up at 4:15
yes that says 4:15 to go see the sunrise. I was not a fan of the whole
waking up part but the hike and the view and the sunrise and the nap i
took after was great. I love Hawaii it's such a beautiful place.  This
week we had cottage meeting. Thats were we take investigators to the
mission presidents house and they get to hear the testimonies and
conversion stories of recent converts. cottage meeting is always so
good. We had some investigators go as well and our family of five is
still on track for baptism on the 21st. We're so stoked for them. They
are probably some of the most solid people i've taught out here on the
mission. Lessons with people like them and the spirit that is felt
there makes me love the mish. Don't get me wrong i love it regardless
but it's like the little cherry on top! Ok thats all i have to report
for today. We're about to go have a zone BBQ. haha all everyone wants
to do out here is eat. and it is starting to be a problem if you know
what i mean haha pray for the well being of my stomach! Haha ok you
guys are great. Mahalo for all the support you kids give me. I love
all you and miss you tons. Keep up the good work! im not sure what in
but you keep it up. Go get em team. Ofa Atu and ALoha! nick please
tell me if you get this and if you are still alive..... that is all

17 Jul

Well it was transfer week and boy was it crazy. Transfer week is usually so slow but this time we had a pretty good week. I got a new companion and his name is Elder Hayward and he is from Virginia . He's really funny so this should be pretty fun transfer. We are still working with 5 with dates i told you all about in an earlier email. I call them the Jackson 5 because i hate writing down all of there names. But the Jackson 5 will be getting baptized on Saturday the 21st. We're stoked for them. Also we got 3 new gators and we got a referall from one of the youth in the ward. turns out the refferral was someone that i thought was a member cause he comes the church all the time. but you had a super solid lesson. The lesson we had with him was one that made me love being a missionary. He's such an awesome humble kid. He's definetly been prepared! We also got 7 with member lessons. or standard of excellence is 8 with member lessons a week so we almost got it. and as a zone we got 32 new gators. August is gonna be a good month. But yeah so this week was pretty good. I hope you all had an awesome week. Always look for those opportunities to share the gospel. I know there out there. I've seen it they are there. Ok thats all, i gotta go. I love all of you and send you all my Aloha. Ofa Lahi Atu.!!! ps the picture is from last weeks sunrise hike.. it was siiiiiiiiiiiiiicccckkkkk!!!!!! Aloha!!

23 July

Hey Family!!!! This week was crazy ridiculous. We had those 5 Baptisms which was the highlight of the week by far. Its the 3 young boys the little 8 year old and then the man in the wheel chair..... who has on leg. It was such an awesome experience to see the family get baptized. its cool when you get to baptize just one person but when there is a family, holy cow these are the experiences that make me love my mission. Were having another baptism this coming up Saturday for the boy named Kim. He's cool. He always has lots of questions about where his dad is because he passed away about a year ago. But luckily for us we know what happens after death. We're right on Track to hitting Vision 100 over here in the H.H.M. and 24 Baptisms here in our zone for the month of July. We're pretty excited. Well this morning for Pday activity we did another sunrise hike. we hiked to Makapu'u Light house. There is a humpback whale but no whales this morning. maybe next time though. Well thats alls i got time for today, I love you all though. keep doin your thing. Aloha!!!

30 July

Talofa!!!

Well this week was really good. We had another Zone Exchange and you all know what happens during a zone exchange. We see crazy cool miracles. In our area alone we got 4 new gators and 3 with dates. Alright!!!!! Zone Exchanges are always fun. we always have a competition to see who can find the most miracles. The Zone Leaders take the winners to Dinner at Chillies... guess who won. Thats right me and Elder Ludovico! haha Me and my companion won last time too! Time for Chillies round Two. but also this week we had to move our baptism for august 6th. we really want him to be prepared. Also yesterday we went to the jackson 5's house. Those are the people we baptized last week anyways we gave all of them a blessing because school started today and they had a friend there who asked us if he can get baptized so we set a date with him for August 18th! and we gave him a blessing too. It was awesome they are such a fun family, and they make really good donuts and they teach us how to dance. its a good time. Haha we are practicing a hula for a Bithday party on the 10th i don't know how to shake it like all the other locals out here haha. it should be pretty fun. I'll take video and send it. Ok im outta time. I hope your all staying safe. Maholo for everything. Ofa Lahi Atu and Aloha!!!!

07 Jun

Aloha everyone, ok so email got kinda got messed up this week so im a few days late. better late then never though right. So we got to go to the temple on tuesday! it was awesome. We're pretty lucky to be able to go the temple every 3 months if you serve on one of the islands with the temple. some missions have to go the whole 2 years without going there. That'd be a real bummer. But its always great to go there to just think and clear my mind. i learn so much every time i go. At church on sunday there were 6 different families from Utah! i guess its summer over there. I didn't know any of them, most of them were from provo. Lets see...... we got some new investigators this week. a mom dad and a son. their daughter got baptized about 2 weeks ago and now they want to take the lessons which is awesome, so keep your fingers crossed! thats really all that happened this week, sorry if its a little short. Happy Birthday Mom and Dad i promise i didn't forget, i hope it was great though. Love the both of you. Ofa Atu and Aloha Everyone!

One of our members took us to breakfast at this place called The Original Pancake House. I feel like Utah should probably get one of those before i get home. BUt yeah i had the fattest most delicious omelet and best pancakes ever.. they compare to my sister Kim's pancakes. anyways i thought you should all know just how delicious my breakfast was and that my stomach we'll be full for the rest of the day. It sounds like everyone is doing great. ok so your not getting a very big email today cause i don't have very much time, but this week was pretty good. we had a wonderful Baptism for this lady name Sheila. She's way cool. She'd been taught by missionaries for a long time in Arkansas but didn''t get baptized there because of family problems. But she moved here and we ran into her one day in the elevator and started teaching her the next day. She's awesome. We have Mission Tour on Wednesday so that should be awesome. I hear that they are great. Elder Larry Wilson from the 70 is coming to speak to us. so im pretty stoked for that. i'll let you know how that goes next week. ok i told i was short on time but i love all of you and miss you tons. keep on keepin on. Aloha Family! how was everyones week. good i hope. well this week wasn't really to eventful so i don't have much to say. we did get a new investigator this week. Her name is Elia and turns out she just moved here from Marshelle islands and all her family is members of the church except for her. we went there to teach here and asked her a few questions about the Gospel. Holy Cow that woman knows pretty much everything. So she came to church with us yesterday which was awesome and she used to go every week back in Marshelle Islands. She's ready for baptism. Her date is for june 2. Um thats about it for this week though. Oh wait, so yesterday when  we were at dinner my companion was talking about his family back home ant there pets and out of know where he started talking about his little brothers pet Vampire Bat.......... i was just as confused as all of you. But i guess its kinda normal to have one of those for a pet. I just probably get me when when i get home. No need a cat when you can have a vampire bat right. haha i'll send a picture of his brother and his bat when his mom emails it to him. ok well i think thats alls i got for this week. Keep doin your thang. i miss all you guys! Ofa Atu and Aloha!

ALOHA!!!!!
So this week was an awesome week! So for the month of may our zone had a goal to hit 20 baptisms. We wanted to hit the high water mark. So we worked our butts off. but guess what it payed off. Yesterday we hit 23 awesome convert Baptisms!!!! Yeah Buddy! it was awesome. it was definetly the transfer that i have worked the hardest but it went by so so fast. it was all worth it though. Also we got the highest baptisms in a month that this mission has ever had! President Dalton or mission President took our zone out to Outback to eat last night. Let me just say that the bill was Huge haha! it was such a cool feeling though and to see all of the wonderful converts enter the waters of baptism was awesome. We're gonna have to work twice as hard though so we can hit it again for june. but we can do it.  I hope everyone had an awesome memorial day. We had a good time here. Transfers are tomorrow. Dont worry im not getting transfered. i actually really like it here though. i'll probably be here for one more transfer.  anyways thats about alls i got to say for this week. Hope everyone is doin great. Ofa Atu and ALOHa!
